The Great East Japan Earthquake that occurred on March 11, 2011 dealt a severe blow to society. Once again, on behalf of all of us at SOFTBANK MOBILE, I offer my heartfelt sympathy to all those who were affected by the disaster. That tragic event prompted me to reflect deeply on the meaning of our business, and the stance we should take.

Above all, I realized that information is itself a lifeline, and that, in that sense, we, our three telecommunications companies including SOFTBANK MOBILE, SOFTBANK BB and SOFTBANK TELECOM with their respective information networks such as mobile, broadband and fixed-line communications have an important social responsibility to fulfill.

With this in mind, we are continuing to allocate our capital expenditure to increase and improve our base stations along with other measures to build greater reliability into our network.

We want to make people happy. If we can decrease the amount of sadness in the world even slightly, we will have achieved part of our goal. We want to connect people around the world, to help bring a smile to one more face, a feeling of joy to one more heart.
